A meeting facilitator like me can organize, run and guide that meeting for you so you can keep your focus. What, exactly, does a meeting facilitator do for you? Here are some of the ways I've helped my clients:

• Meet with management to determine purpose and scope of session
• Prepare an agenda that addresses those goals
• Interview participants ahead of time to gather input
• Provide some ice-breaking or team building exercises
• Promote interaction within divergent departments
• Guide the process without influencing the outcome
• Keep the meeting on time and following your agenda
• Keep minutes to be sure everyone's comments are included
• Moderate controversial topics and ensure respectful discussion
• Help participants reach a consensus or decision
• Avoid topic tangents and keep the group focused on the issue at hand
• Ensure participation from everyone
• Discourage the verbal participants from overshadowing the quiet ones
